A personal wake-up call
Hi, I’m Tait Pollack, founder of Selene and creator of the Sleep Perfect® REST³ Formula. For me, sleep isn’t just a passion—it’s deeply personal.

During lockdown, my life was turned upside down. After my second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, I developed a pulmonary embolism and four additional blood clots. My legs doubled in size. I turned jaundiced, lost a shocking amount of weight, and spent weeks fighting for my health.

The prognosis was grim. Recovery seemed unlikely. But I refused to accept that as my story.

  • Weeks after my embolism, unsure of why my health was declining and searching desperately for a diagnosis.

  • A few years after treatment and recovery. Lots of research and study and a laser focus on wellness and self-improvement.

How sleep became my lifeline
Recovery wasn’t just about medication or treatment—it was about rebuilding my body and mind from the ground up.

I focused on the three pillars of wellness: sleep, nutrition, and exercise. But what I quickly realised was this: sleep isn’t just one of the pillars—it’s the foundation of all the others. Without sleep, my body couldn’t heal, my mind couldn’t focus, and my willpower to improve simply wasn’t there.

Sleep allowed my body to repair itself, stabilised my emotions, and gave me the energy to keep fighting. It wasn’t just rest—it was the engine behind my recovery.

Through that experience, I learned a life-changing truth: sleep fuels willpower, and willpower is the key to achieving anything.

If six-pack abs are made in the kitchen, sleep is the house they’re built in. Without it, everything else crumbles.
